Make Decorative Flower Boxes
On Mother’s Day, I had a moment of panic. We were headed to brunch at a friend’s house when I realized that I needed a hostess gift. There wasn’t enough time to hit the stores, so I decided to make something. I had a small pot of pretty flowers, and a bunch of wild lilacs—I just needed a way to put it all together.
I decided the Clementine box in our recycling bin had potential. Covering the corners with colored masking tape and using Modge Podge to paste on some pretty paper to the sides, I came up with a gorgeous flower box.
I embellished with some paper flags and tiny clothespins that I had laying around—and voila—a perfectly pretty hostess gift, for Mother’s day, or any day!
Materials Needed to Make a Flower Box:
- Wooden Clementine box
- Pretty paper
- Colored masking tape
- Double sided tape
- Mod Podge
Instructions to Make a Flower Box:
- Begin by covering each of the corner posts with several layers of colored masking tape.
- Measure each side of the Clementine box, and cut paper accordingly.
- Using a thin layer of Mod Podge, adhere the paper to each side. Coat with one more layer of Mod Podge. Allow an hour to dry.
