Route 20 in Brimfield, Massachusetts, is best known for the annual three-part fairs, Brimfield Antique and Flea Market Shows, that take place each May, July, and September.

Yankee editor Mel Allen gives his tips for visiting the countless booths, “as far as you can see.” Hints: wear comfortable shoes and it’s okay to haggle.

The photographs, by Angelo Dounoucos, are from Brimfield, written by John de St. Jorre, 2008.

This is a great show. I was there about 10-years ago a had a great time. I can’t wait to get back now that i’am retired.

Used to go there 3 times a year when I was still in CT. I love it. Brought some friends once. They had never seen anything like it and overdosed. I had to take them home. Like the video says. COMFORTABLE SHOES. After you go a few times you’ll develop the”Brimfield Stride” and you’ll be able to see more.

    Go and enjoy.

I live in the town next to Brimfield, and I’d like to warn you about the traffic. Mel Allen is right when he advises you to get there early. Also be prepared for long waits at area restaurants, but it’s worth it. Sturbridge (the next town on Rte 20 East and the home of Old Sturbridge Village) has some great restaurants

I went there last year on one of the hottest days of the year and vendors were practically giving stuff away! Had a great time though…will go again next spring!
