Ram Island Ledge Light, Maine
Andrew Houser, a self-taught photographer who was born and raised in Maine, lives in Portland, Maine, with his family. Self-described as “born wired to create,” Andrew had an early interest in traditional forms of art, although photography didn’t enter into the picture until he picked up a camera to start taking photos of his family. It didn’t take long for his curiosity to turn to passion.
Andrew spent much of his time traveling his home state of Maine looking for captivating landscape opportunities and developed an affinity for images depicting a desolate or solemn feel to our landscape. “Such areas are becoming harder to find and are worth protecting,” explains Andrew. He’s also drawn to create time-based images and those near the ocean or other source of water.
Photography was the catalyst that led Andrew to spend 6 months in England photographing the countryside, as well as mainland Europe. He returned to Portland and now operates both his landscape photography business as well as a portrait studio in Westbrook, Maine.

Very nice collection of images. I particularly like the boats in Portland harbor looking like they are floating in yellow space.
Outstanding photography! His eye for colour is very moving.
Very creative eye… nice work
Beautiful work ! I especially like the photos of Old Orchard beach they are simply gorgeous.
A VERY BIG WOW! to your photographs…certainly capturing this beautiful AMERICA we are blessed to live in…
Thank you…Diane
I love your photos and this one really stands out for me. You must’ve used a high number f-stop for this one to get that depth of field…wow!
These are beautiful pictures. After spending all my early years in Maine and now at eighty seven years of age and a Southerner I cannot tell you how really lonely they made me feel. There is nothing in this country like our beautiful State of Maine!
Loved this group of photos….all of them were so diverse and colorful. Very talented and a great eye, too!
Andrew Houser does wonderful work..many thanks for showing him to me
Beautiful photos! Thank you for sharing.
Jo
WOW, beautiful work, love our Maine beaches. I too am self taught, trying to be a photographer, have photos on my town’s website in NH, we’re neighbors. I know what speaks to be and yours did speak, some louder than others, morning sunrise -wow… thank you.
Great shots and photography is outstanding!
totally gorgeous, thank you so much. I miss NE so much.
I was going to mention Mr. Houser’s great grip on color also, as well as the strength and beauty of his photos.
The evening or morning colors are beautifully captured.
