There’s Nothing Like a Child’s First Snow

Since 2005, new arrivals to Portland, Maine, from warm-weather foreign countries have been given a big snowy embrace at the WinterKids “Welcome to Winter Festival.” Sledding and snow-shoeing factor big in an agenda built around teaching kids and parents not just how to stay warm, but how to make true winter fun.
