Comfort Food Warms Us, Body and Soul
One of winter’s great rewards is the excuse to savor rich comfort foods that take the chill off the coldest January day. They’re the payoff for the post-blizzard dig-out and a happy end to the best ski day. Here are two of our favorites, not only delicious but award-winning as well. The chili is adapted from a recipe by Dennis Carr of Dorchester, Massachusetts; it took first prize in the 2011 Boston Firehouse Chili Cook-Off. This Maine lobster mac-and-cheese, adapted from Cal Hancock of the Hancock Gourmet Lobster Company, beat out Bobby Flay’s version in a 2010 episode of Throwdown!
