St. Ann's Church, Woonsocket
The intricate murals blanketing the walls and ceiling of St. Ann’s bring a taste of Renaissance Italy to Woonsocket. Painted in the 1940s by famed church decorator Guido Nincheri, they brought the Bible to life for parishioners for decades. But as its flock moved on, the building went unused and was eventually deconsecrated. A group of former parishioners purchased the building, saving it from demolition. They now face the challenge of making it profitable as an arts center so that they can generate the funds needed to maintain it.
