Dublin, New Hampshire (February 14, 2011)- – Yankee Magazine is a 2011 National City and Regional Magazine Awards finalist in the following four categories: “Excellence in Writing,” “Photography,” “General Excellence III,” and “Multimedia.” Magazine professionals from around the country chose 143 finalists, representing 35 publications, in the 26-year-old awards competition. Judges named five finalists in most categories and will choose one ultimate winner in each. The awards for work completed in 2010 will be announced at the CRMA’s 35th Annual Conference April 30 through May 2 at the Drake Hotel in Chicago, Illinois.

“We’re thrilled to be named a CRMA finalist in four categories for work that occurred during Yankee Magazine’s 75th anniversary year,” says Mel Allen, editor of the magazine. “I believe that in our 75th year, we’ve succeeded in capturing and preserving New England’s identity, all the while giving readers entertainment and food for thought and reflection, and reminding them of the region’s unique place in America. The review and judging process for this award, which names the five best city and regional magazines in the country per category, is rigorous and selective. We’re proud of this recognition.”

Yankee Magazine is competing in the following four categories based on these criteria:

Excellence in Writing

Yankee Magazine’s July/August issue is a finalist in the “Excellence in Writing” category, which recognizes superb writing throughout a single issue. Other finalists include: 5280 Magazine, Chicago Magazine, Philadelphia Magazine, and Texas Monthly.
