There are two types of people in this world. There are people who always have a song playing in their head and there are those who never have a song playing in their head. I always have a song in my head.

This got me to thinking about the song I was singing to myself when I was all of about 12 years old skiing moguls at the now defunct little Hickory Ski Center (tagline was “Mogul Madness” back then) when everything clicked for me. Suddenly, I figured out how to ski a perfect line. And it all was choreographed to a Cheerios commercial, the unsinkable taste of Cheerios.

I asked some ski industry folks to tell me their favorite songs that play in their head when they are skiing or riding (and I also asked them to tell me what the best ski deal going is since I thought you might like to know). I’ve listed their answers below.

I have a feeling that Pete Dowan — though I don’t know him that well except for a few email exchanges — is the type of person who always has a song in his head. He is a medically disabled songwriter who lives in Canada. He shared his song “Come on Let It Snow” with me and I think you would enjoy it too. So, please, read to the end of this posting so you can sing the words to his song. I think that if we all do this, the snow gods will listen and hopefully give us some snow. You know, March is historically one of the snowiest months in the northeast. Come on let it snow!

    Hey Heather;…
    Pete here !…
Thanks for mentioning my song “COME ON SNOW”. ….
Let’s hope there’s a few more snowfalls this March, and maybe one or two in early April. I would love to have this song on every Snow Lover’s lips next fall, in anticipation of a great winter of SnowSports and general winter fun. ….
For anyone who’d like to hear the song, visit … it’s there.
….. And it’s not only available from, but from iTunes and GroupieTunes as well. Info about that is on the MySpace page. ….
Enjoy the rest of the snow season, and have a GREAT spring and summer. …..
Take care and keep smiling … good for the soul ! …..

    Musically Your Friend,
    Pete Dowan {:-)

The James Bond theme song is a great ski scene, but you know there is an old Bond movie with a chase scene on skis. My skiing friends in college observed that it is always the third skiing villain that skis off a cliff, gets shot, collides with a tree, etc. So we’d compete NOT to be the third man as we skied down the trail. By the way, the third man principle applies to other chase scenes in other cheesy Bond movies.
