Moose in Moosehead Lake Area in Greenville, Maine
Moose seem to fascinate folks in these parts, and many of us are willing to go out of our way to spot one. Some folks even plan trips to catch a glimpse of the elusive mammal. Our readers shared their best shots with us in this slide show of moose found around New England.
Tell us where you go to see a moose on the loose.
Love these pictures. My husband and I are always looking to see a moose, but haven’t yet. Someday it will happen, I’m sure!
WoW! Love the Moose and the scenery!!!! This gives me another great reason to vacation in the New England states!!! I probably won’t want to ever leave
) !!!!!
Wonderful pictures, my Husband & I went to New England for our (delayed) Honeymoon in 1993. My greatest wish was to see one of those majesty animals. But we were not so lucky. Thank you for sharing those photos’s
Watching the news this am, saw a moose at a ski resort in Vermont running after a skier. (he did get away),,, guess the moose was protecting his territory. Moose was huge.
How lovely to see so many shots of this animal. I idly wondered if anyone had ever thought of trying to ride a Moose….
While Moose are majestic to look at, they are also the most lethal animal in New England! They are so tall that the eyes of a Moose in the road at night usually do NOT reflect the headlights of an approaching vehicle, as the eyes of a deer would do. By the time you realize you are about to collide with a Moose it is usually too late for the Moose and for the driver. A huge, injured Moose crashing onto the hood of your vehicle, and through the windshield can be deadly for both the Moose and the driver. My friend’s sister collided with a Moose one morning, on her way to work at five ayem. Years later, she is still not, nor ever will be fully recovered.
I love photographing moose I often go to baxter state park, moosehead lake, rangeley, and several location in New Hampshire.
I also lead moose tours for photographers.
Be careful when drving in moose country as mentioned in previous post
