SLIDE SHOW: Newburyport, Massachusetts by Suzanne DeGeorge
View 16 stunning photos of Newburyport, Massachusetts.
Featured Photographer: July 2011
Suzanne DeGeorge’s interest in photography was first sparked when she picked up her grandmother’s old Kodak Brownie to take pictures of her little sister, whom she dressed up in various outfits. Although she’d always enjoyed taking photos, she began dedicating more time to the pursuit when she moved to northern Massachusetts in 2007. The quiet simplicity of New England, with its rolling hills, ocean rush, majestic mountains, and changing seasons, provides new and different photo scenarios each day. She prefers to be out walking with her camera, especially in the early morning or at dusk, to anything else.
Suzanne never leaves home without her camera and works as an assistant to a financial planner to support her photography. She’s also a passionate volunteer and photographer with Wings and Hooves — an organization that provides therapeutic horseback riding instruction to children and adults with physical, emotional, or developmental challenges — where she captures the program’s special moments with her camera.
Suzanne’s work is currently published on the cover and interior shots of the 2011-2012 Newburyport Guidebook. You can view more of her work at www.sdegphotography.com and at Handcrafter’s Hall in Newburyport, Massachusetts.

Such contentment. I loved all of these photos.
Thank you,
Jo
Thanks Jo!
Broardwalk picture has a quality to make one want to be there.
Nice work, you give a great representation of Newburyport and its’ diversity.
Beautiful photos, Suzanne….
Lovely shots, Suzanne. I’ve wanted to get up to the Newburyport area for years – you just moved it closer to the top of the ‘to do’ list.
Thanks Robert, Jon, Judy and Dorothy – I appreciate all of your comments!
Beautiful shots of this area….great eye for composition etc! I was there a few years ago and dug up an old 1800′s bottle I still have called “ely’s cream balm”. It was located in an old parking lot just before they were going to do some construction. It was a cool town though.
Thank you Dave! And that old 1800 bottle sounds like a great find!
Beautiful Photos! Where does the gray dock go?
Thank you Pam! The dock goes right to the ocean on Plum Island.
Amazing color in all of these photos!! Perfect eye for the composition, too!
Thanks Cheryl!

All beautiful pictures. I forgot how beautiful Newburyport was. Haven’t been there for years.
So beautiful! Always loved visiting or even just driving through Newburyport. Really miss it! Thanks for sharing your beautiful photos.
I grew up in Newburyport and visit as often as I can. The pictures made me realize how much I miss it. Beautiful photography! Thank you!
Oh My, I need to go back in that area again, the photography is excellent and looks like some things have grown since I have been there. The boating docks have increased it seems.
You mentioned that the grey dock goes to the ocean, does it go thru the preserved area on the right hand side, I forget what that is called. My husband being in a power chair could use that walkway. I think it is time to go back and visit and I remember the great food from a place on the left hand side, you eat outside, it was a great day. It is a 2 hr drive, but I think you put the fever in my camera bag, so I guess we will have to make a trip, I cannot not say which photo I liked the best as there were too many, thanks.
Thank you Leo & Martha, Marie, Julie, Judi and Diane. I appreciate all of your comments/compliments! I never tire of photographing Newburyport! I hope you all can make it back for a visit sometime!
Diane – The grey dock is at the northern tip of Plum Island. It is not on the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge which you mentioned is on the right hand side.
Suzanne,
Isn’t slide #3 of the dories taken in Amebury at Lowell’s Boat Shop?
They sure look like Lowell’s dories to me…
(actually those aren’t dories, they are Salisbury skiffs, a modification of the dory design.
But Graham McKay at the Shop will tell you all about that stuff…!
Enjoy!
Yes – you are correct; slide # 3 is one of the Lowell’s dories! I enjoy taking photos at Lowell’s Boat Shop!
