The lovely folks at Gleaner Gardens in North Scituate, RI, have been working hard for the past 12 years to restore one of the largest rhododendron collections in the region. The gardens are over 50 years old, with over 100 varieties of rhododendrons, as well as numerous other trees and shrubs. These gardens, which have been featured in Traditional Home Magazine and People Places and Plants, open to the public every memorial day weekend with the help of the Rhode Island Wild Plant Society.

I’ve really enjoyed the times I’ve spent here. I totally recommend that anyone interested in being surrounded by a beautiful collection of rhododendrons and specimen trees visit Gleaner Gardens on Memorial Day weekend 2011. An easy, leisurely walk around Gleaner Gardens will make your day and stay in your memories for a long time. Every turn in the path brings a new surprise. The knowledgeable owners are on hand to chat with you and answer your questions. All in all you’ll be glad you’ve been there and you’ll want to go back again in coming years.
