The “City Market New Haven,” CT is actually a CitySeed Market at Wooster Square. CitySeed manages five markets in New Haven.

What is the criteria for the 10 best? I manage a wonderful market in Springfield, MA and except for the mushrooms, we have everything that is pictured. I think accessibility and parking should also be part of what makes a good market. Although our market isn’t large, about 22 vendors, we have produce, plants, meat, poultry, eggs, cheese, other dairy products both cow and goat, prepared foods, honey, some crafts, flowers, soap, lotion, baked goods, and more. Every year it is different as vendors come and go. We will begin our 15th year on May 1st in beautiful Forest Park. Since most of us don’t have a market across the street from where we live, we all must make an effort to patronize one or more. It is good for us, good for the folks who are willing to do the hard work of farming, etc, and it is good for the economy. Keep your local money local.
