I too worry about the written word and reading in this day in age, but then my granddaugher, age 7, gives me hope. We have read to her since birth and she has inheritated and learned of the love of reading and now, after just completing first grade, is an avid reader and amazes me with her abilites. What a shame all parents and grandparents don't take the time to start their children off on the right foot. Keep up the good work, Edie. You are my favorite nonfiction writer and I always am excited when I get an email with your latest efforts.

Edie.....I just loved your musing over Mayday's adventure......"Even while we tell our stories, new stories unfold." It was a reminder for me to treasure all the moments...all the real life stories we experience with family friends and strangers.Just that one observation of yours left me with such a wonderful sense of peace that I can't even find the words to describe it. That's what's so amazing about the written word..... I can go back over that phrase any time I want, to recapture that feeling. Continue your magical writing Edie. Keep those stories alive!

Hi Edie, Hey, I'm blogging too! Congratulations on your first blog. This is my first as well. Thanks again for all the nice words about the workshop you have expressed in your blog. If you have another one, I'll definitely recommend it to my other writer friends-it was awesome! PS I had a feeling about that hat-maybe a story from you about it? Doris
