Dublin, New Hampshire--Yankee Magazine features its very own backyard, the Monadnock region of New Hampshire, in the September/October issue's fall foliage travel story. The article highlights the region and lists editors' favorite places for dining, shopping, and lodging. Never before in its history has Yankee covered the area as extensively.

"We've invited Yankee readers into our home country, New Hampshire's beautiful Monadnock region, where we work and live," says editor Mel Allen. "Forty towns and villages--including one small city of 22,000--claim kinship with Monadnock, and within them there are more streams, lakes, ponds, waterfalls, and tree-lined back roads connecting with other tree-lined back roads than you can see in months of touring around. I've lived here 30 years, and I still come upon hidden beauty and curiosities I never knew."

The centerpiece of the region, Mt. Monadnock, just 65 miles from Boston, is climbed by nearly 125,000 hikers each year. On clear days, it offers a panoramic view of all six New England states. Other outdoor diversions listed in the article include: Cathedral of the Pines, Frye's Measure Mill, Miller State Park/Pack Monadnock, Monadnock State Park, Pisgah State Park, and Shieling Forest.
