Yankee Magazine, November/December 2008 Issue
(page 2 of 2)
"5 Best Bookstores" -- by Suzanne Strempek Shea (page 32): Shea, who has written five novels and three memoirs (all published by Boston-based Beacon Press), including Shelf Life, about her year working at a local independent bookstore in Western Massachusetts, compiled the list for Yankee Magazine. She's read her work at dozens of bookshops around New England.
"First Light" -- by Jim Collins (page 22): With the holiday season approaching, families will embark on their search for the perfect Christmas tree. In "Bringing in the Tree," Yankee Magazine's contributing editor Jim Collins describes his family's now ten-year old tradition.
"Part of the ritual is getting there," writes Collins. "We drive the back way on a series of marked and unmarked dirt roads, which gives the trip a kind of over-the-river-and-through-the-woods feeling."
*Yankee *invites the media to interview our editors, who are experts on where to go and what to do during autumn in New England. For more information, contact Heather Atwell, heathera@yankeepub.com or 603-563-8111 EXT 180.
