Climb aboard Fort Ticonderoga’s ground transportation to approach the tactical challenges faced by generals like Abercromby, Burgoyne, Amherst, and Gates. Play out their decisions as you tour the historic hills surrounding Ticonderoga and place yourself in their shoes to see if they played their hands well as they vied for this Key to the Continent. Beginning from Fort Ticonderoga itself, travel out to the French Lines, the great 1758 battlefield. Tour the site of the sawmill, where key decisions were made in 1758 and 1759. Drive up to Mount Hope, the vital American fortification to secure the LaChute Valley in 1776. Ascend Mount Defiance to sight in where British Cannon forced an American withdrawal. Return to the Fort itself knowing the lay of the land around it. Limited space and advanced reservations required. $65 per person. All sales are final, no exchanges or refunds. This is a rain or shine tour. The entrance gate will open at 6:00 pm and the tour will begin promptly at 6:30 pm. Tour duration is approximately 1 ½ hours.
