Each year, the Georgetown Working League, a volunteer group, holds a delightful, old fashioned fair with handmade gifts and food, white elephants, art, crafts, and music. All proceeds go to the town and local scholarships. The fair is one of the oldest in the state and is much loved by all. People line up early for a chance to pick up treasures at extremely low prices. The fair is also known for excellent home baked goods. Working League members spend the winter sewing lovely items and making a quilted piece to raffle. You can buy handmade children's' clothes, 18" doll clothes, table runners, potholders, balsam bags and much more at the gift boutique. This year's quilt raffle drawing will be held at the end of the fair. Noted local artists and artisans will be selling their work and there will also be craft demonstrations. For lunch, there's lobster or turkey salad with pasta salad and blueberry cake (homemade, of course.) Hot dogs and veggie burgers will also be available. Kids can enjoy their own area with activities throughout the day. Come down to Georgetown on August 9 to enjoy this family friendly event. The fair is handicapped accessible. Rain or shine. Admission, parking and the parking shuttle are all free.
