Follow the experiences of a small town on Cape Cod with the “Great War” in a new exhibit opening on Sunday, June 15 from 2-4 p.m. at Brooks Academy Museum in Harwich. The exhibit tells the stories of those who served in uniform or as civilians on the home front through a display of uniforms, military equipment, photos, letters, posters and memorabilia. Also on exhibit during the 2014 season is a nostalgic look at “Harwich Through Time,” a display of “then and now” photographs chronicling the town’s evolution from its small town farming and fishing days to present times. The exhibit is based on a new book under the same title. Visitors will also be able to see the Elmer Crowell barn, currently being reconstructed, enjoy music, and refreshments. Also on exhibit are the popular railroad, cranberry and maritime displays. For more information, please call (508) 432-8089 or visit the website www.harwichhistoricalsociety.org.
