Explore New England furniture during this in-depth workshop. Historic New England Senior Curator Nancy Carlisle and Plimoth Plantation joiner Peter Follansbee introduce furniture made and used in New England from the seventeenth to the mid-nineteenth century. Topics include regional variations in style, changing shop practices, consumer patterns, craftsmanship, and technology. See Follansbee’s demonstration of seventeenth-century furniture-making techniques, and examine original pieces from Historic New England’s extensive collection up close. The course concludes with a tour of the collections storage area. $70 nonmembers, $50 students, includes boxed lunch.
