From May 16 through the 18th, travel and history buffs can sign up for the “flight” themed week-end. This week-end package includes a presentation on the Double Eagle II, the first successful transatlantic hot air balloon flight which launched from Presque Isle in 1978; a guided walking tour of historic downtown Presque Isle; a narrated city-wide tour aboard the Society’s Molly the Trolley, which visits the balloon site; a presentation on the history of the Presque Isle Army Airbase; and a trip aboard Molly the Trolley to the crash site of an F-86 Sabre. The package is all inclusive – meals, lodging, transportation to/from the hotel to all local events, tours, and taxes. The cost is $225 per couple per night. Due to the limited seating aboard the trolley, maximum participation is 32 people and a minimum of 10 participants is required. Some of the venues may be changed at the discretion of the Society. To make reservations, to make a tax deductible contribution, or for more information on the packages or any other program of the Society, please contact Presque Isle Historical Society at (207) 762-1151 or pihistoricalsociety@hotmail.com.
