The seventh annual Bryant Day will be held at the Bryant Homestead in Cummington, Ma. This event celebrates Cummington Native, William Cullen Bryant, the famous 19th century poet and author, newspaper editor, and conservationist, and his passion for the art of the word. Remembering how boldly Bryant spoke for freedom and for union as editor of the New York Evening Post: Company C of the 10th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry and U.S. Navel Landing Party will stage an encampment. Relevant demonstrations, activities and music will go on continually. At 1p.m. William Cullen Bryant himself will speak briefly and the reclusive Emily Dickinson will read several of her Civil War poems. There will be food available and a nature ramble. Admission is free, parking is $10 and members are free. This event is sponsored by The Trustees of Reservations.
