Speaking My Mind: Where will you go for the best foliage in New England?

Theresa Pontbriand -- I travel Rt 30 from Jamaica to Townshend, VT, through the West River Valley daily. The ever-changing beauty of my adopted home state never ceases to amaze me. Every drive I take there is always something new to see. It keeps getting better all the time.
Marthalie Thurston -- The Crossroads of Vermont dipping down into the valleys and soaring up to the higher elevations gives one spectacular views of "coats" of many colors of this area. There is no place like home!
Victor Lazaron -- Best foliage drive around here is Rte 302 through Crawford notch from Bartlett in the Mt. Washington Valley up through the notch to Bretton Woods and Twin Mountain. It's gorgeous in either direction.
Karen Bisnaw -- Chelsea, Vermont. I was there this past weekend and the foliage was just beautiful. The ride down Vermont 110 was breathtaking.
Jill Moody -- My favorite place to see the beautiful foliage is Kingfield, ME, along the Carrabasset River on up to Sugarloaf Mountain -- it's great!
Butch Lombardi -- Many people think of the mountains when they think of fall foliage. Here in southern New England the colors are just as brilliant. The latter half of October is when the color usually peaks in this area. One of my favorite drives is down Rt. 114 through Warren and Bristol, RI, both charming, historic seaside towns with antiques, art, and good food (a good side trip is a ride along The East Bay Bike Path from Warren to Bristol).
Take 114 over the Mount Hope Bridge and pick up Rt. 24 E. Get off Rt. 24 onto Rt. 77 S through Tiverton. You can follow 77 to Little Compton (a beautiful small town with a common and white church) or take Rt. 179 E to Adamsville. From Adamsville, take a side trip to Acoaxet. Loop back up to Adamsville and cross over into MA and Westport on Adamsville Rd. to Main Rd. Take a right on Main Rd. and then a quick left onto Hixbridge Rd. At Rt. 88 head S to Westport Point and Horseneck Beach. At the end of Rt. 88 keep going on John Reed Rd. to E. Beach Rd.
If you take a right here you can walk out on Gooseberry Island. A left will take you along the water to Horseneck Rd. Left on Horseneck Rd and go N until Horseneck splits. Take the right fork and follow to the beautiful little town of Russells Mills. Here there is a great general store that's worth a stop. Go N out of Russells Mills on Russells Mills Rd. to Chase Rd. Follow Chase Rd. N and this will take you to Rt. 6 and Rt. 195 in Dartmouth. This is a beautiful drive on quiet country roads with farms, vineyards, and foliage. You can complete the whole thing in a few hours, depending on how long you want to poke around or side trips. Bring a good map or a gps and enjoy.
Ronie Strout -- The best foliage would be in Aroostook County this coming weekend of Oct. 6-8. One place on Route 11 you have a 360 view of the area, a beautiful view any time of the year. Hope you all get a chance to see it.
Diana Ingraham -- At the top of Ekonk Hill Road, Route 49 headed north in Eastern Connecticut, if you look to the East there are open fields and a miles-view of foliage that can't be beat! Continue North for just a few miles and take a left onto Route 14A. Simply gorgeous views as you follow the road downhill to Route 12. Enjoy!
