Bee's Knees
The proprietors like to say that they opened this homey little eatery to provide patrons with a comfortable place “to stay as long as they wanted or as short as they pleased, to play a game, write a poem, or share a song.” You can just eat, if that’s all you want, choosing from a creative menu featuring locally grown and raised foods—a BLT made with bacon from Winding Brook Farm and organic greens, served on a baguette from Elmore Mountain Bakery, for example, or meat loaf with Cabot cheddar. Ralf LaBelle has created a Vermont college town’s version of a Viennese konditorei, where afternoon strollers might stop for a slice of hazelnut torte ($3.25) or some fantasy of marzipan and whipped cream. There’s always a fine selection of cakes and tortes available by the slice, and individual pastries, cookies, and scones. Enjoy your treats right on the premises, along with a great selection of breakfast items and sandwiches. We have been up to "Jeff" and the surrounding area many times and highly recommend spending time up there. The scenery is GREAT and the local people are fantastic and the food is the best in New England. Can't wait to get back there to enjoy again. Robert Skibniewski Cheektowaga, New York.
