The clues:

First: When Yale students began tossing around empty tins from Bridgeport, Connecticut's Frisbie Pie Company, they inspired a pastime (trademarked in 1957) whose popularity has spread around the world.

Second: The Interrupted Journey, by John G. Fuller, chronicled the amazing tale of Barney and Betty Hill of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, who claimed they were abducted and examined by alien beings during the night of September 19-20, 1961.

This two-word phrase pairs the images:

_ _ _ _ _ _   _ _ U _ _ _
