Skatutakee: Mountain for a Picnic

By Annie B. Copps
Food Editor, Yankee Magazine

Most people like to hike up Monadnock. I do, too, but I think it's the summit of Skatutakee that I prefer. It's a moderate hike, which is great if you like to haul a substantial picnic and cameras -- which I do. The best part is that you get a view of most of the region (all those New Englandy white church steeples and lakes), including a stellar panorama of Monadnock and the Wapack Range. The trail begins in Harrisville Center.
