Peak into Peterborough: Pizza and Foliage

By Jack Burnett
Copy Editor, The Old Farmer's Almanac

The Peak into Peterborough (as in "peak" foliage) festival on the Saturday after Columbus Day is always fun, with its variety of events in the streets and river parks in one of Frommer's Budget Travel's "10 Coolest Towns in America, 2006." The real deal is its Pizza Tasting Contest, where for a few bucks you can get a whole plate of slices from the town's five or six pizza joints, sit down in a park to eat them, and then vote for your favorite when you're finished. A great way to feed the kids!
