My favourite comfort food is a pot roast - and the recipe is from an older Favorite New England Recipes book from Yankee that my sister (who lives in Vermont) gave me 20+ years ago. The recipe is the Halfway House Pot Roast, and is an all time family favourite...

Warm homemade large-pearl tapioca. Mmmmmm ...

Comment from Pat Smith on January 7, 2009

My favorite comfort food is homemade mashed potatoes with roast beef gravy and peas.

Comment from Monique Galliher on January 14, 2009

My favorite would have to be warm apple crumble, a recipe my mother got when she was in school. It's been a family favorite ever since!

Comment from Kevin Brown on January 16, 2009

My favorite is Shepards Pie

Comment from Trish Aylward on January 21, 2009

Probably my favorite comfort food would be either corn chowder or chorizo and eggs. Mom always made the corn chowder on cold winter days, I have tried but mine never tastes like Mom's. The chorizo and eggs is my Step-Mom's recipe and it is yummy and reminds me of good times with my Texas family.

spaghetti!!!!

Comment from Florence Smith on February 8, 2009

It has to be clam chowder. I live in Virginia and chefs here think clam chowder should be mostly potatoes. Most times I am lucky if I see one piece of clam. So when I am in New England, I will order clam chowder if it is on the menu. My nephew who is in the Army stationed in Texas now does the same thing when he is home. We are both in search of the perfect clam chowder. Needless to say, a few restaurants on the Cape have our highest ratings so far.

Homemade roasted chicken noodle soup. It is my daughter's recipe and is published in Taste of Home's Soups cookbook. It is wonderful!

Comment from Lisa West on February 19, 2009

A big steamy bowl of Italian Beans 'n Greens soup with a big piece of crusty Italian bread! Add some Parmesan cheese on top and a glass of red wine...Oh Dear!

Comment from Denise Chamie on February 19, 2009

My favorite would have to be a Bowl of Clear Clam Chowder and 1/2 dozen Clam cakes. This is a Rhode Island girls favorite, but I can only dream as I don't get home much any longer and now live in the Mohave desert. No fresh clams here!

Comment from Jennifer Legler on February 19, 2009

In response to Florence Smith's hunt for Clam Chowder- try the Red Blazer Restaurant in Concord, NH. Lots of clams and they add thyme to theirs- very tasty. At my home in Virginia, I like homemade meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and peas.

Comment from Kathy Berry on February 19, 2009

The favorite comfort food, is food. Any homemade pot roast, mac'n'cheese, chicken noodle soup, chicken'n'dumplings, beef stew. But if I had to pick one it would be my mother's stuffed cabbage and her homemade bread....WOW!!

Comment from mary bodor on February 19, 2009

Ah, the New England clam chowder along with the lobster roll from the York Beach Fish Market, in where else but York Beach, Me., is the best! Now that's heaven!!!

Comment from Karyl Meehan on February 19, 2009

My favorite (and most missed) comfort food was my Dad's "dressed cabbage". After we had corned beef and cabbage, he would fry some onions in a little bacon grease, then add some cut up boiled potatoes, corned beef and cabbage and fry it all together until it looked like a big pile of mush. But, what a great tasting pile of mush it was! I sure miss it. I tried to make it but it wasn't the same. Some things just never come out the way Daddy made them.

Comment from Clara hill on February 19, 2009

My favorite food is good smoked barbque, beef or pork, baked beans, potatoe salad. I also would like a serving of spaghetti with meat balls, with garlic bread and a glass of red wine

Comment from Lynn Bezek-R on February 19, 2009

Whenever I travel back to see Mom and Dad, she makes Chicken Noodle Soup. Nothing is better than a warm bowl after a long day of travel. She also makes a killer Lazagne and great Tacos too!!!!

Comment from Elizabeth Ulnits on February 22, 2009

Please give me Lobster Bisque with lots of meat in it to start and then I just would like to have a 2 1/2 lb. Lobster with a baked potato and lots and lots of butter - melted for the Lobster and regular for that baked potato - yum

Comment from Eli H on February 22, 2009

Macaroni and cheese made from scratch (never a box!).

Comment from Floyd Stanifer on February 23, 2009

My favorite comfort food would have to be Clam Chowder. The fried clams from The Clam Shack in Kennebunkport,Maine are also great.

Comment from Suzie Titus on March 8, 2009

Without a doubt it would have to be home cooked Boston Bake Beans with some dinner franks thrown in the mix and sweet buttery toasted brown bread with raisins.
