VIDEO: Last Green Valley, CT
A wide, quiet corridor of pretty villages and green landscapes lies hidden within one of the most densely populated parts of New England. Visit northeast Connecticut (and parts of central Massachusetts) for the Last Green Valley, where more than 70 percent of the land remains field, farmland, and forest.

The NE 'Quiet Corner' of CT is a gem -- on your own or -- for those who'd really like to peek behind the fences - on a Bison-Brie-Brandy culinary tour; a Fiber to Fashion contemporary and heritage textile tour; or a ghosthunter led, historian and folklorist supplemented Haunted Eastern CT tour of spirited spots and haunted restuarants. ConneCTionsgrouptours.com has info on CT-based touring for groups.

My wife & I try to travel the full length of Rte. 169 every year! To us it is Connecticut's 'Mohawk Trail ' & more. It's amazing how many beautiful little villages are tucked away in such a gorgeous piece of New England. There's always something new to explore in Woodstock, Canterbury, Brooklyn & on & on & on. The word etc. doesn't belong in a description of such a special area! Thank you for spreading the awareness & appreciation of Connecticut's 'Quiet Corner'. -Cindy & Dana Rockwell-RI

This is my old stomping grounds. I imagine all of CT was like this 50 years ago. Thanks Mel, for bringing it to the attention to all those who think CT is Fairfield County and the Turnpike.
