Where can you find local lamb in New England? Your best sources are farmers' markets in season, meat CSA programs, some natural-foods stores, and retail stores at small slaughterhouses.
Adams Farm in Athol, Massachusetts, for example, sells 1,000 whole lambs a week to halal (food permissible under Islamic law) markets in New England and upstate New York. Its retail store sells cuts of lamb and lamb sausages, both fresh and frozen. Blood Farm in West Groton, Massachusetts, sells more than 50 whole lambs around Orthodox Easter, but also sells cuts of local lamb all year round in the retail store.
