SLIDE SHOW: Maine Coastal Odyssey

by Richard Schultz

From Kennebunk to Mount Desert Island, Portland to Wiscasset, explore the Maine coast that photographer Richard Schultz captured during a two-week trip. He found families picking blueberries and fisherman bring their catch into harbors, children playing and teenagers working; classic cottages and seaside hotels that time has passed by. Mostly he found summer playing out in the lives of people who for a moment or two allowed a stranger with a camera to hold them still.

Read the story about summer on the Maine Coast.

Pictures wonderful, which makes me anxious to go back to New England in two weeks, where I was born and raised until age 30. Taking the Amtrack train from Boston to Portland and from there heading down to Oqunquit/Perkins Cove and lobster rolls at Barnacle Billys!! Then heading back to OHIO.

We went to Pemaquid Point (from Boothbay Harbor) on 9/11 and found many people there with the same idea - to find some tranquility in the sorrow. We love Boothbay Harbor and hope to get back there this Fall. Haven\'t been back since our grandsons were born. So have spent vacation on the Mass. coast to be near them for past six years. The slideshow is great and reminds us of how much we miss Maine!

Florida is where I live but Maine is the home of my heart. I love it there, especially Booth Bay Harbor, and Bailey\'s and Orr\'s Islands.
