Touring New Hampshire: The Granite State's Art Galleries and Museums

The Granite State's Art Galleries and Museums

New Hampshire has a rich artistic heritage. It's an aesthetic history that follows the lay of the land-Impressionist Childe Hassam painting on the Isles of Shoals, Abbott Thayer and Frank Benson painting the hill country around the Dublin Art Colony, sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens and illustrator Maxfield Parrish working in the Cornish Art Colony of the Upper Connecticut River Valley, great landscape painters such as Thomas Cole, Albert Bierstadt, Benjamin Champney, and John Frederick Kensett establishing White Mountains art as a genre all its own.
