In Westbrook, CT there is a restaurant where the seagulls eat exceptionally well. Bill's Seafood Restaurant on Route 1 next to the singing bridge has lots of outdoor picnic tables with large umbrellas for shade. There are many ducks and seagulls nearby- hungry ducks and seagulls. The manner you use to feed the seagulls separates the summer visitors and the locals. Summer visitors throw food over the railing into the water below. Locals step up to the railing and hold their arm out high, french fry in their fingers. The seagulls will swoop down and grab the fry right out of your fingers. The seagull may grab and go; others will hover for just a split second, making it look as if they are "standing still". Either way, the seagulls take their prize without even touching you- somewhat like my dog takes a treat without nipping. The seagull in this photo has decided to hang out on the railing looking for a hand out.
