In this slide show, photographer Jeffrey Newcomer captures the charm of the annual Sap Gathering Contest at Stonewall Farm in Keene, New Hampshire: an event that embraces the traditional method of collecting sap to make maple sugar.
No stranger to documenting life in New England, Jeff has served as a member, webmaster, and photographer for the Conservation Commission in his rural community of Chesterfield New Hampshire for over 30 years. He has used his photography to support the commission's effort to preserve the town's open and wild spaces. He enjoys wandering throughout all of New England, but in recent years has focused his photography on the Monadnock region of New Hampshire and southern Vermont, as well as the New England coast.
