SLIDE SHOW: Early Spring in Ipswich, Massachusetts by David Stone
by David Stone
David Stone has been interested in photography since childhood when his father gave him a Sears Tower twin lens reflex camera with the admonishment not to lose it. After attending college and serving in the Army, he graduated from the New England School of Photography and has been working in the photography industry ever since. He feels privileged to be on the staff of the Digital Imaging Services department at Boston's Museum of Fine Arts working alongside a group of outstanding photographers, and surrounded by one of the world's finest art collections. Talk about inspiration!
A recent move back to Ipswich, Massachusetts, was the spark that reignited his keen interest in his personal photography, and he has discovered an abundance of photographic possibilities there. Appleton Farm, The Crane Estate and Reservation, Plum Island, Ipswich Bay, the Ipswich River and the Great Marsh are all waiting to be photographed. The changing light and tides assure that they reveal something different each day. Early one morning as he was walking back to his car from a photo excursion at Appleton Farm, a woman he passed asked if he had taken any good pictures. His automatic response was "Yes, but there are plenty left!"
As a regular contributor to Yankee Magazine's New England Photography page on Facebook, David enjoys the opportunity to share his images with other talented photographers. He primarily shoots with Nikon DSLRs, (almost) always uses a tripod, and thoroughly enjoys the time spent post-processing his images. His favorite camera setting is f8 and being there!
David's photo of the Iced-in Canoe was the winner of Yankee Magazine's 2011 Winter Photo Contest!

You have a good eye for capturing the things that say \"peaceful\" and \"breathtaking\". Are your works for sale anywhere?

Each one is beautiful for its own unique reason. The Town Landing view is reminiscent of the Impressionists...awesome.

Shows of pictures such as these give the heart healing in this dreadful days of political hard words, I know, I know that it is the way of testing the candidates, but still hard words are hard words, not to mention the news from abroad.
Thank you for sharing your lovely work with all of us.
