Yield: Makes about 4 dozen.

Make these to hand out at the door on Halloween.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound dates
  • 2 cups shredded coconut
  • 1 cup walnuts
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons chopped candied orange peel or grated orange rind

Instructions:

Put dates, 1 cup coconut, and walnuts through a meat grinder. Add lemon juice and orange peel or rind. Knead until well blended and roll into balls. Chop remaining 1 cup coconut until quite fine and toast to a delicate brown. Roll balls immediately in coconut and set aside to dry.
