Berry bread puddings may be made from any kind of leftover bread; we like brioche, challah, French, sourdough, and cinnamon. The texture is best if the bread is a day old. This recipe is for one casserole or souffl


  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (approximately)
  • 8 cups 1-1/2-inch bread cubes
  • 4 cups preserves (your favorite flavor)
  • 8 eggs
  • 1-1/2 cups sugar
  • 3 cups half-and-half
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • confectioners’ sugar
