  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup (8-oz. can) tomato sauce
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 4 oz. cheddar or American cheese, grated
  • 1 cup soft bread crumbs
  • 1/4 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
