Yield: Serves 6 to 8.

For chocolate aficionados, this simple recipe for Chocolate Cream Pie is a wonderful way to get more of the good stuff.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups milk
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • A 9-inch pie shell, baked
  • Whipped cream, for garnish

Instructions:

Put milk, sugar, salt, cocoa, and cornstarch in top of a double boiler and cook until slightly thickened, stirring constantly. Add beaten eggs and cook until thick, stirring constantly. Add vanilla and pour into baked pie shell. Let cool, then garnish with whipped cream.
