Cookies and Bars Recipes | Fruit Recipes

Yield: Serves 6

Good with blueberries too (use one quart).

  • 3 or 4 tart cooking apples
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup quick cooking oatmeal
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon powdered cinnamon

Arrange apples, pared, cored, and thinly sliced in a well-buttered shallow baking dish. Melt the butter and stir in the sugar, oatmeal, flour, and cinnamon until well mixed. Sprinkle over the apples. Bake in a moderate oven (350 degrees F) for 45 minutes until the crust is golden brown and the apples are soft. Serve the crisp warm with whipped cream, vanilla ice cream, or cheddar cheese.

One of the tastiest and easiest crisp recipes I've found! It doesn't get any better. If you like walnuts you could add a half cup chopped to the topping recipe and it would be quite yummy. – Anonymous Review
