Blueberry Crisp

Yield: Makes 6 to 8 servings.

  • 4 cups fresh blueberries
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons white sugar
  • 2/3 cup flour
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 scant teaspoon each mace, ginger, allspice, and nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Butter a 9-inch square baking pan. Mix berries, lemon juice, and white sugar; pour into pan. Combine flour, brown sugar, spices, and salt. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly. Cover berries with topping and bake for 30 minutes, or until topping is slightly browned. Serve warm with ice cream, if desired.
