Chess Pie

Pies and Pastries Recipes

Yield: Makes 6 to 8 servings.

  • 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • pinch of salt
  • 3 eggs
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1/2 cup cream
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 unbaked 9-inch pie shell

Cream the butter with the sugars and salt, and then beat in the eggs one by one. Stir in the remaining ingredients and pour into the pie shell. Bake at 375 degrees F for about 35 minutes, or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.
