Miscellaneous Recipes

Yield: Makes about 15 cups

  • 8 cups rolled oats (not instant)
  • 1-1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 1-1/2 cups untoasted wheat germ
  • 1-1/2 cups chopped nuts (walnuts or unsalted cashews)
  • 3/4 cup shredded coconut
  • 1-1/2 cups unprocessed oat bran
  • 1/2 cup un toasted sesame seeds
  • 1/2 cup unsalted sunflower seeds
  • 1/2 cup vegetable or safflower oil
  • 3/4 cup honey
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 cups raisins

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Stir together the oats, sugar, wheat germ, nuts, coconut, bran, and seeds. In a small pan heat the oil, honey, and vanilla until bubbling. Thoroughly mix liquids with dry ingredients. Bake for 20 to 30 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes. Stir until cool. Add raisins when cool.
