Yield: Serves 20-25.
From the Newport (Rhode Island) Historical Society's Christmas celebration.
- 6 cups light rum
- 6 cups dark rum
- 3 cups lime juice
- 1-1/2 cups lemon juice
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 cups water
Mix all ingredients in large glass or pottery container and let stand (refrigerated and covered) for 7 days. Serve in punch bowl with a block of ice. Bottled juices may be used, but freshly squeezed juice is far superior and will make a great difference in the taste. Strain freshly-squeezed juice well to remove pulp before mixing with other ingredients.
