Pecan Pie

Yield: Serves 8.

A sweet pie that has held its own as a holiday tradition.

  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup softened butter
  • Dash of salt
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1-1/2 cups pecan meats
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • Whipped or sour cream

Prepare pastry for a 9-inch pie shell. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Sift together flour and sugar. Beat eggs lightly and add butter, salt, sugar and flour mixture, syrup, nuts, and vanilla. Mix gently but thoroughly and pour into unbaked shell. Bake 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees F and bake 50 minutes longer. Serve with whipped cream or sour cream.
