Our tester served this recipe for Garlicky Cream Cheese Dip at a small gathering and received rave reviews. If you're watching fat intake, try substituting a reduced-fat cream cheese in place of the regular cream cheese and skim milk in place of the half-and-half, and serve with raw vegetables rather than crackers.

  • 3 garlic cloves, finely minced
  • 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, at room temperature
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons half-and-half or milk
  • 1-1/2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh chives


In a food processor or by hand with a fork, beat the garlic, cream cheese, and half-and-half until smooth. Fold in 1 tablespoon of the chives, mixing gently. Spoon into a bowl or crock and garnish with the remaining 1/2 tablespoon chives. Chill for 2 hours before serving with an assortment of crackers and sliced fresh vegetables.

    On way to make this one even better: Add: one bunch green onions (chopped), one jar Dried Beef (chopped). Can’t get any better than this!
