This Maple Butternut Fudge is a popular holiday treat with a smooth, fine-grained candy. Use walnuts if butternuts aren't available, or skip the nuts altogether.
2 cups sugar
1 cup maple syrup
1 cup milk
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup butternuts
Boil sugar, syrup, and milk together until mixture reaches 235 degrees F. Pour into bowl to cool. Add butter and stir until a grain shows in the fudge. Add nuts and pour quickly into a buttered 8-inch square pan.
