Marion's Maple Butternut Fudge

Yield: Makes 24 small pieces.

This Maple Butternut Fudge is a popular holiday treat with a smooth, fine-grained candy. Use walnuts if butternuts aren't available, or skip the nuts altogether.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup maple syrup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup butternuts

Instructions:

Boil sugar, syrup, and milk together until mixture reaches 235 degrees F.
Pour into bowl to cool. Add butter and stir until a grain shows in the fudge. Add nuts and pour quickly into a buttered 8-inch square pan.
