Yield: 4 to 6 servings

Be careful to keep the wine below the simmering point. Once it boils, it spoils.

Ingredients:

  • 1 750 ml bottle of medium-bodied red wine
  • 1 orange, sliced crosswise into 1/4-inch slices
  • 1 lemon, sliced crosswise into 1/4-inch slices
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (or to taste)
  • 15 whole cloves (or to taste)
  • 4 large cinnamon sticks
  • 1 ounce brandy
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup berry herbal tea

Instructions:

Place first seven ingredients in a saucepan over medium-low heat. When the wine is warm, stir in the sugar and berry tea. Serve in glass mugs with cinnamon sticks as a garnish.
