Texas-Missouri Beer Bread
Yield: 1 loaf
- 3 cups self-rising flour
- 6 tablespoons sugar
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 12-ounce can beer
- 1 stick butter or margarine, softened
Instructions:Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease a loaf pan.
In a large bowl, hand mix all ingredients except butter. Spoon dough into the pan and bake for 45 minutes.
Remove bread and rub with butter until all butter is melted. Return to oven and bake 15 more minutes.
Additional Notes:If you wish to leave beer out, use 12 ounces of half-and-half or milk. Add 2 tablespoons of cinnamon and 1 cup raisins.
Slice thin enough to put in toaster and serve warm.
