Baked Pears with Cream

Yield: Serves 4-6.

Serve in small bowls or rolled up in thin pancakes.

  • 6 firm, ripe pears
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 3 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 cup whipping cream

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Peel, core, and slice pears. Butter an 8-inch square baking dish and cover bottom with a layer of pear slices. Combine sugar and cinnamon and dust on top of pears in dish. Add another layer of pears, dust with cinnamon sugar, and repeat until all pears are used, ending with sugar and cinnamon on top. Pour melted butter over top, cover with foil, and bake 15 to 20 minutes. Remove foil, bake another 5 to 10 minutes. Spoon into dishes, pour cream over pears, and serve while still warm.
