Spiced Pear Muffins

Yield: 12 muffins
- 1-3/4 cups flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup peeled, chopped fresh pears
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Grease a 12-cup muffin tin. In a bowl, stir together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, and salt. Stir in pears, buttermilk, and oil; blend only until dry ingredients are moistened. Batter will be lumpy. Fill muffin cups 2/3 full and bake for about 15 minutes. Serve warm.
